Philippa's Coif and Free Jigsaw to Download

WE owe this week's free jigsaw download to the great good generosity of Philippa. After seeing the last coif jigsaw, Philippa, a volunteer from Carrow House Museum, Norwich emailed me with these two pictures. She writes: Dear Jacqueline.
having just enjoyed doing the lovely coif puzzle I thought you might like to see a blackwork coif I embroidered for Strangers Hall Museum a few years ago. It was for visiting school children who were studying Tudor costume. I chose for my pattern - with his permission - one of the great Jack Robinson's wonderful blackwork designs. The other image shows Sarah, one of the volunteers, dressed as Lady Paine, wife of a former Lord Mayor of Norwich who lived at the Hall, wearing the coif. Love Philippa.
This is absolutely brilliant! All the years I have known Philippa, and not known that - but then, we have always had so many other things to talk about. And even better to find a fellow fan of Jack Robinson, whose books on blackwork are simply my bibles.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy your free jigsaw download this week. However, sadly, this is not going to work for Mac users. Instructions: Click here next Click Open, then click the .EXE file name and click Run, when you see the jigsaw puzzle, click Play Too many pieces? Try clicking on Trays on the top tool bar to create any number of resizeable trays to sort your pieces ........ you can also click the Cheat button and watch the puzzle solve itself! The software is by David Gray designer of Jigsaws Galore - the powerful jigsaw player and creator for Windows.

  1. Alas, Blackwork was my downfall, had to give up City and Guilds embroidery because of the migraines... love to see it though [in short bursts!]

  2. I'm rather confused by the photo, the coif appears to constructed wrong with the peek on her cheeks and the cheeks on the back of her head

  3. It looks like the coif is correctly made, just worn upside down.
